You may recognize the quick-witted bantering and off-the-cuff improv that trademarks this performer. His stand-up comedy and spontaneous quips (based on the "Audience Du Jour") have been seen on "The Tonight Show", "The Grammy Awards", "Jerry Lewis Telethon", "Sex & the City" and even "Sesame Street."
The Philadelphia native has become a heavy hitter in the comedy world as a sure-fire, homerun act. This cross between a highly educated Master of Ceremonies and a tortured "Average Joe Jew" has audiences on a rollercoaster ride of rants, stories and a grenade of improvisational jokes while running through the crowd to create a different show experience every night. Michael Ziegfeld’s act has been touted as "fast-paced, contemporary and smooth."
He has opened for, or split-billed with Lewis Black, Joan Rivers, Lisa Lampanelli, Margaret Cho, Jeff Foxworthy, Rita Rudner, Phyllis Diller, Brett Butler, Wynonna Judd, James Brown, The Pointer Sisters, The Beach Boys, Kenny Rogers, Norm Crosby and The Mills Brothers performing on stages around the world, headlining in clubs, casinos, cruise ships and corporate events.
Ziegfeld's show also includes his ventriloquist creations of "WILLIE" The International Bird of Prey, "The Worlds' Oldest Gymnast, NADIA COMA" and a talking PLATE OF FOOD that have granted him an audience with Her Royal Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II and garnered him Atlantic City's Cabaret "Act of the Year." His credits also include voicing and puppeteering for Jim Henson Productions, Saturday Night Live, Dick Clark, MTV, VH-1, Walt Disney Productions, and numerous national commercial campaigns.
Michael's screen debut was recently made co-starring with Winona Ryder in the motion picture "The Ten" as the only cast member actually playing duel roles! Writer/Director David Wain said, "We knew Michael was one of the best comedians working." Echoes producer, Jon Stern,"His work in the film was truly spectacular."
His diversity also landed him opposite Katherine Heigl (Grey's Anatomy / Knocked Up) & James Marsden (Hairspray) in "27 Dresses". The original role only had two words. But after an improv-filled audition, director Anne Fletcher made the role a comedic staple throughout the film, renaming the character "Ziggy", Michael's actual nickname!
